Abstract

Transitions between Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 could be analyzed in terms of changing orientations of the strategy of industrial production from the development of automated manufacturing systems to the development of sustainable, adaptable, and anthropocentric manufacturing systems. However, the use of the alternative approach could cause challenges with applying Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) competences, since issues concerning lifecycle management, decision-making, sustainability, and adaptability of manufacturing processes would emerge. Moreover, the construction of resilient manufacturing ecosystems would be required due to the influence of disruptive factors, such as disruption of global supply chains, cyber-physical attacks, and environmental uncertainty. As far as Industry 5.0 is concerned, innovative approaches, including artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twins (DT), seem to be indispensable for the implementation of intelligent lifecycle management and adaptation. Thus, the purpose of this project is to develop the concept of PLM 5.0 that would incorporate the use of AI and DT when constructing resilient manufacturing ecosystems. The methodology of this research would be based on the systematic literature review technique. In accordance with the proposed methodology, the author will follow a PRISMA-based protocol supported by bibliometric and conceptual analysis. The period covered by the literature review would be 2020-2026. In relation to benefits that can be gained as a result of using the latest technologies, it is worth saying that application of these methods will provide several benefits for the company, such as transparency, improvement in making decisions, flexibility, sustainable performance, and resilience of manufacturing operations. However, it should be also mentioned that benefits of applying the latest technologies will not be the only aspects of this issue that should be taken into account. For instance, fifth-generation PLM can be regarded as one more aspect.
